In alignment with University of Wisconsin–Madison campus and U.S. Centers for Disease Control guidelines related to COVID-19 (coronavirus), the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center has canceled the Research Participant Appreciation Event, originally scheduled for April 25 in Madison, Wisconsin. Event cancelation is part of a larger proactive UW–Madison campus and University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health plan to minimize person-to-person spread of COVID-19 in our community.
In addition, all in-person research visits are canceled until further notice. We are working with the National Institutes of Health and other Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers around the country to develop the best strategy for continuing Alzheimer's disease research during this uncertain time.
The annual Appreciation Event is the center's opportunity to thank its research participants and update them on the latest news and research advancements. COVID-19 won't stop the Wisconsin ADRC from doing that. Center staff is developing new email and Internet-based tools to update research participants on Alzheimer’s disease research developments, brain health news, and resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. A news e-newsletter will launch at the end of March. And later this spring, center scientists will provide online research updates and virtual Q&A sessions to inform research participants on the Wisconsin ADRC’s work and research advancements.
