Dr. Mowat is a veterinarian clinician-scientist and assistant professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine and School of Medicine and Public Health. She practices clinical veterinary ophthalmology and teaches veterinary students in the UW–Madison Veterinary Care clinic.
Dr. Mowat's research focuses on aspects of dog aging relating to sensory and cognitive decline. She is particularly interested in how companion (pet) dog aging mirrors that of the humans that cohabit with them, and how the environment modifies the aging process in the home environment that would impact aging of these cohabiting species.
